Benton County Tornado of March 12, 2006

On the evening of March 12, 2006 about 10-11 PM Benton County residents were glued to their TV sets watching a strong super cell come across the Oklahoma line close to Siloam Springs and travel east at a slight northerly angle toward Centerton, Bentonville, Little Flock, and Pea Ridge. Nestled in this super cell was an F2 or F3 tornado. It was leveling everything in its path. It traveled across the country side just below the heart of Centerton and did a tremendous amount of damage. Some homes were completely destroyed west of the city some were heavily damaged and hundreds of trees were splintered and uprooted.

Typical Super Cell with a tornado

Large hail accompanied this storm. Some hailstones measured as much as three inches across and possibly more.
